Hello, 5/6 families!
It's been a busy week! It finally feels like we have routines under our belts and are getting into an academic groove.
6th graders went on an awesome field trip to explore the forest as a composter! Students took soil samples from 5 different sites along trails by the Academy and have been analyzing them back at school. They are drawing connections between plant life and soil in a given area. While this fits well within their current ecology unit in science, it also sets them up for critical thinking about different kinds of agriculture... which they will explore in their upcoming ELA/Science project!!
Next Friday, October 5th, is the all school hike! Please make sure permission forms get back in for that event! This year we will be hiking with Westshire students along the Cross Rivendell Trail. Please be in touch if you would like to chaperone!
We will also begin adding in intervention and extension activities to our weekly schedule next week. This time will allow us to support students where they need it most! Students will rotate through small group work and time spent supporting in younger grades, playing in band, singing in chorus, or doing choice projects.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please be in touch!
Ms. K., Mrs. Rose, Mr. C, and Miss Moran.
