Hi Families!

We just wanted to remind everyone that the 5/6 team will be having a holiday celebration potluck tomorrow! We are asking students to bring in something to contribute to the potluck if they are able to!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

December happenings

Hello, All!

I hope you are all able to safely enjoy the new snow and the brightness it brings!

Last Week:
Last Tuesday night, 6th graders exhibited their final projects for their study of Ancient Greece. Their work ranged from drawings, models, and dioramas to a play and a chariot race. There was also a lovely selection of Greek food! Thank you to all who came out to support them!

Coming Up:
The 6th graders are continuing to show off their exhibition skills in a Chopped Jr. -style competition to be held next Tuesday, December 19th from 5:30 to 7:30.
As the culminating event for a combined unit in Language Arts and Science, students are using their knowledge of a variety of farming and agricultural practices to intentionally source ingredients for, and ultimately cook, a food of their choosing. Students have been working hard to learn about where their food comes from and how to make informed choices when they eat.
Please look out for an official invitation going home tomorrow!

5th graders are working hard to finish up our reading of the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. We will be going on a field trip to a section of the Cross Rivendell Trail next Monday, the 18th, to give the students hands on experience with some of the challenges Brian might have faced. Permission slips will go out tomorrow.

Monday, December 4, 2017

Good evening 5/6 families!
We hope you all had a great weekend and are beginning to enjoy all the holiday season has to offer.  A few reminders, per the letter that went home at the end of last week with all 5/6 students, you should all be seeing report cards tonight.  Please review report cards with you student, sign the envelope and have your child return it to their adviser tomorrow.

Some great questions to ask of your student while looking over the report card include:

  • What are you most proud of?  Why?
  • What area(s) do you see as your strengths so far this year?
  • What area(s) do you see that need improvement?
  • Based on your report card, what goals do you have for second trimester?
  • What would you change about your academic habits for second trimester?  Why?  What would you continue doing that is helping you to find success?
As always, should you have any questions about your child's report card, please don't hesitate to contact any one of us.

As a reminder, the 6th grade will be hosting an Exhibition tomorrow night, Tuesday, December 5th from 5:30-7:30 showcasing work they have done in their Greek unit.  Be sure to come and check it out!  They have worked hard and will be showcasing a variety of aspects from ancient Greek culture!  It's sure to be a great night!
