Hello, Families!
I hope you all had a lovely break. The week before vacation was surprisingly productive and focused, but also contained some special events! 5th and 6th graders participated in our annual choral touring visit to Wheelock Terrace, a senior living facility in Hanover, NH. SME students were professional, polite, and sang wonderfully!
We also ended out the week with a potluck lunch, which was delightful. Thanks to everyone who generously created or purchased food to contribute! There was more than enough and it was a festive end to the week.
We are excited to start up again tomorrow!

Tis The Time To Share With Those In Need…
SME Food Drive
During the next two weeks, we will be collecting food and sundry items for our local town food shelves. Our SME Student Council will have collection boxes at the entry way to SME. We will also have collection boxes available outside gymnasium door during the holiday concerts on December 13th and 14th. Each SME class will encourage participation in this effort.
Georgette Ludwig, Fairlee's Town Clerk reports they could use the following contributions for their food shelves:
Granola Bars
fruit juice & fruit cups
canned tuna & chicken
cereal & oatmeal
pudding cups
canned hams & soups
tea & coffee
crackers
canned fruits & veggies
mac & cheese
pasta & rice
laundry soap
bar soap
toothpaste
shampoo & conditioner
Thank you for your generosity and for sharing in the spirit of giving this holiday season.

The weeks seem to be blending together quickly as our Holiday vacation soon approaches. We have many important events and dates to add to your calendar this month!
Important Dates:
Some more pictures from our wonderful Harvest Lunch before Thanksgiving
Before the Harvest Lunch many classes met with their buddy classrooms to make a centerpiece for the tables during lunch. Here are some pictures of 5W meeting with their buddy classroom, Mrs. Belknap's 3rd grade.
Tuesday December 6th: 5-6 Activity Afternoon
Wednesday December 7th through Friday December 9th: The Book Fair at SME!
Tuesday December 13: K-3 Hoiday Concert
Wednesday December 14: 4-6 Holiday Concert
Wednesday 21: 5-6 Chorus Touring to the Wheelock Terrace
Friday December 23: No School
Monday January 2: No School
Last Friday the 4th and 5th graders from SME went to a show called Pedal Punk at the Hopkins center. It was one of the best shows we have seen! We are very lucky to have such a wonderful resource to expose our students to. Students enthusiasm and excitement after the show was contagious.
As the colder weather creeps in, we reminded students that in order to play outside in the snow they must be wearing a jacket, snow pants, and winter boots. In addition, students should always be wearing a jacket outside. If they don't have a jacket to wear at recess then we can't let them freeze outside so they will have to stay inside. It's so much more fun to bundle up and play!

During math class we had a quick commercial break informing us about how to help the environment! A project the 5th graders have been working on in Science. Please enjoy! Give a hoot, don't pollute!
