Though the calendar still says October, some wintry weather sure has arrived!!

Please remember to send your student with appropriate clothing for this unpredictable season...hats, gloves, and a few layers are usually a good bet.

Recently, Harry Molesworth entertained us with a special demonstration of unicycling. Harry impressed us all with his skills.

SME Student Council attends the Vermont Rural Partnership Fall Meeting

On Friday, October 16th, our SME Student Council members attended the Vermont Rural Partnership's Fall Grant Planning meeting in Greensboro, Vermont. Mrs. Keiling invited our student council members to represent SME. While there, our student leaders explored place based learning; brainstormed ideas on how to empower one another and their peers to become "active leaders and active learners" in our school; how to identify community partners with our school; and to descibe "how we show what we learn" to our families and our community. They created a poster that represents the themes just described in our Rivendell Community, identifying the three schools and how the Cross Rivendell Trail connecting all four towns in our school district.

In the afternoon, our student council members participated in a brainstorming session concerning ways to improve our school. They came up with an impressive list of constructive ideas. They were especially excited about empowering one another and their peers to take on a more active role in supporting SME. This week, they will meet with Mrs. Keiling to share their thinking and to discuss project ideas for writing a grant to the Vermont Rural Partnership.

Thursday October 15th was our All School Hike! Thank you to all of the parents who came to enjoy the beautiful day with our students. Below are a few pictures from the day.

Another week has flown by at Samuel Morey!!

Fifth and sixth graders have been working on their "Core Concepts" in their advisories. Ask your student about their Core Concept!

Mr. C's fifth grade class presented their core concept of at last Friday's community meeting. It was a meaningful and heartwarming performance. Every student had a chance to speak about what their concept meant to them, and to take part in a song based on their concept; trustworthiness.
