It was another busy week at Samuel Morey!

Fifth and sixth graders learned a lot about Civil War soldiers as they explored four local cemeteries.
Look for more photos on the social studies page!

Thanks to all for attending your student's 3-way conference. It's always great to watch students take ownership of their own academic progress and goals. They should all be proud of themselves!

This week...

3-Way Conferences are this Friday, March 25th (Please be sure you are signed up!)

As a part of our Civil War research we have two field trips this week: we will be going to local cemeteries to visit Civil War soldiers graves this week on : Monday - Sixth Grade; Tuesday - Fifth Grade.

On Wednesday, ten members of our SME Student Council, past and present, will be going on a field trip to visit regional outdoor classrooms with WES student government representatives. This is a part of our research as we prepare to create our own outdoor classroom at SME.

On Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM, there will be a meeting in the SME Library to promote the creation of our SME Outdoor Classroom. We are seeking volunteers, adults and students! Our student council has begun the process. Now we need to plan together and make it happen. Please join us.

Last week:

Pi Day was a big success! The students went from classroom to classroom - attempting a different pi-related challenge. The best part, though, if you ask the kids...was the actual P-I-E!!

A big thank you to all who attended Science Night!!

Our SME family would not be complete without all of you, and it is so wonderful to see everyone experiencing some of the stimulating learning we do here at school.

Science Night was a huge success!

Is it spring yet? This winter has been very unpredictable, just like students. We love these children that keep us on our toes. They teach us so much as we teach them.

Spring is a time of change and growth, and SME mirrors nature in that way - as our students demonstrate both change and growth in so many ways at this exciting time of year.

Sixth graders created this "Wonder Wall". It is full of some of the things that make them curious. We did this in preparation of the kick-off of Genius Hour.

There are lots of things going on in and out school in these next few months. The time is going to fly!

Here are some dates to mark in your calendar:

 •    March 17:  All School Curriculum Night  (this Thursday!)
•    March 21: 6th Grade SS field trip
•    March 22: 5th Grade SS field trip
•    March 25:  3-way Conferences (Please schedule a time with your student's homeroom teacher)
•    March 29:  Activity Afternoon
•    April 13th:  EXPO

Thanks for taking the time to check our weekly posts and for visiting your student's individual academic pages!

It was a great week back after break! The students seemed refreshed and ready to dive back into learning.

We had a wonderful treat last Friday in REP. After second grade did a great job hosting, teachers put on a lively "play" to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America Day!

Here are Mrs. Winchester and Mrs. Rose as Thing 1 and Thing 2:

Thanks, as always, for viewing our blog. Please be sure to check each teacher's individual pages for any new photos or news, and for general information regarding each core academic subject.
